(1) Finished the movie 'Newsies'; and
(2) Covered Ch. 19 Notes and PPT about Progressivism.

Day 36 (December 13 & 14)

Today we:
(1) Continued watching the movie 'Newsies.'

Day 35 (December 11 & 12)

Today we:
(1) Covered Chapter 18 (Imperialism) and viewed the PPT. Chapter 18 dealt with American expansionism, the Spanish-American War, Hearst and Pulitzer, Teddy Roosevelt, and the Panama Canal, among other things;
(2) Viewed and quickly discussed the Newsies PPT; and
(3) Started watching the movie 'Newsies.'

Day 34 (December 7 & 10)

Today we:
(1) Took a quiz on Ellis Island and Angel Island;
(2) Did Immigration readings in groups (5 different readings) and then reported on them; and
(3) Created a political cartoon or drawing about immigration.

Day 33 (December 5 & 6)

Today we:
(1) Took a quiz on Ch. 16 - Immigration;
(2) Did two readings - one on Ellis Island and the other on Angel Island; and
(3) Viewed and discussed the Immigration PPT.

Day 32 (December 3 & 4)

Today we:
(1) Introduced the chapter on Immigration;
(2) Received our Ancestor/Recipe project sheet; and
(3) Did the Push/Pull Factors & Immigration Periods worksheet.

(1) Read an account of Lucy Larcom and Harriet Hanson and their experiences in the mills in the 1830s;
(2) Took a quiz on the reading;
(3) Finished Chapter 8 Notes;
(4) Watched the Presidents video on Andrew Jackson; and
(5) Discussed the Trail of Tears and read a modern-day comparison of what the situation must have been like.

(3) Started Chapter 8 Key Terms; and
(4) Saw the cotton artifact and discussed cotton's importance in the pre-Civil War South.

(3) Did the Lewis and Clark online assignment.

Day 10 (September 21 & 24)

(2) Looked at reprints of Lewis and Clark maps from the early 1800s;
(3) Watched a video clip about early American exploration; and
(4) Were assigned a map activity due next time - draw a map from your house to school

Day 9 (September 19 & 20)

(1) Took a quiz on Chapter 4;
(2) Did Chapter 5 notes and PPT; and
(3) Did a quick overview of the Constitution.

Day 8 (September 17 & 18)

Today we:
(1) Looked at and talked about the Revolutionary War posters that students created;
(2) Finished Ch. 4 terms and PPT; and
(3) Read and discussed 'Christopher Seider and Samuel Maverick: Martyrs of the Revolution.'

Day 7 (September 13 & 14)

Today we:
(1) Started Chapter 4 Notes and PPT;
(2) Watched a short video clip ('French and Indian War to Lexington eleven minutes) on YouTube about the French and Indian War; and
(3) Assigned students a Propaganda Poster - they are to imagine they were at the Boston Massacre and are to create a poster promoting American liberty.

Day 6 (September 11 & 12)

Today we:
(1) Reviewed Chapter 3 Notes;
(2) Took a quiz on Chapter 3; and
(3) Did readings "Olaudah Equiano" and "Eliza Lucas" and discussed them.

Day 5 (September 7 & 10)

Today we:
(1) Took a quiz on Chapter 2 Notes;
(2) Completed Chapter 3 Notes and PPT, and had a discussion on the chapter.

Day 4 (September 5 & 6)

Today we:
(1) Took a quiz on Chapter 1;
(2) Completed Chapter 2 Notes and PPT;
(3) Read a historical description of the Mayflower; and
(4) Did a class reading about the Salem Witch Trials.

Day 3 (August 31 & September 4)

Today we:
(1) Took the US Map quiz and corrected it; and
(2) Completed Chapter 1 - notes, PPT, and discussion.

Day 2 (August 29 & 30)

Today we did the following:

(2) Took a 'quiz' on what we knew about US History topics;
(3) Viewed a Class Overview PPT;
(4) Were introduced to Mr. Schaber's website and blogs; and
(5) Filled out a map of the 50 states in the US - quiz next time
